If you’re looking for Nintendo Switch wireless headsets, here’s a handy list of compatible gaming headsets so you can pick one and enjoy the wireless gaming life.
With the 4.0.0 firmware update, we found out that the Nintendo Switch now supports USB wireless gaming headsets. But there are a few compatibility issues here and there, and instead of grabbing just any wireless headphone off the shelf and working smoothly, we had to content ourselves with a few options for wireless headsets that work with the Nintendo Switch.
With the new 5.0.0 firmware update, however, more gaming headsets became compatible, and we finally have more wireless options for our beloved Nintendo Switch. Here are the wireless gaming headsets that work with the Nintendo Switch, according to Sean Hollister of CNET, as compiled in this Reddit thread.
Worked with Nintendo Switch as of V4.0.0
- Astro A50 Gen 3 (but only by plugging 3.5mm into base station)
- Sony PlayStation Gold Wireless / Wireless Stereo Headset
- Sony PlayStation Gold Wireless (2018)
- Sony PlayStation Platinum Wireless
- Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Rage Wireless
- SteelSeries Arctis 7 (but only by plugging 3.5mm into dongle)
- SteelSeries Siberia 840 (and presumably 800 and H Wireless)
- SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless (when set to PS4 mode)
- Turtle Beach Elite 800
- Turtle Beach Stealth 450
- Turtle Beach Stealth 520
- Turtle Beach Stealth 700 for PS4
- LucidSound LS30*
- LucidSound LS40*
Now works with Nintendo Switch as of V5.0.0
- Logitech G933
- Logitech G533
- Plantronics Rig 800HD
- Plantronics Rig 800HS
- Plantronics Rig 800LX
- Turtle Beach Stealth 500P
- Turtle Beach Stealth 600 for PS4
Does not work on V5.0.0
- Astro A20
- Astro A50 Gen 3 over USB
- Asus Strix Wireless
- Corsair Gaming H2100
- Corsair Void Wireless
- Corsair Void Pro Wireless
- HyperX Cloud Flight
- Razer Kraken V1 and V2
- Razer Man O’ War Wireless
- Razer Thresher Ultimate Xbox
- Razer Thresher Ultimate PS4
- Razer Thresher 7.1 for PS4
- Turtle Beach Stealth 420X
- Turtle Beach Stealth 420X+
- Anything that’d require an Xbox One wireless adapter (Razer Thresher Xbox direct connect, Turtle Beach 600 and Turtle Beach 700 for Xbox)
* For the LucidSound LS30 and LS40, you can make them work by plugging in a 3.5 mm cable into the USB dongle. No need to plug the other end into the Switch’s headphone jack.
Take note that most of these headsets won’t be able to utilize 7.1 audio with the Nintendo Switch, so you’re going to have to live with stereo.
Also, Bluetooth headsets and headphones still do not work. The Nintendo Switch still does not provide any way to stream audio via Bluetooth, so your fancy AirPods won’t work. There are workarounds with a Bluetooth transmitter, but you might run into a few latency issues here and there.
So, are you now able to use your wireless gaming headset with your Nintendo Switch? Was there anything I missed? Leave a comment below and let’s talk!Read More:
